The Wurst Athletics

The Wurst Athletics was a playful and energetic experiment blending fitness and fun. Designed to inspire people to move, sweat, and connect, it offered daily workout challenges with a tongue-in-cheek approach, proving that exercise doesn’t have to take itself too seriously. From creative branding to consistent content creation, I led the vision for this community-driven project that celebrated movement, humor, and togetherness. Though its run has ended, The Wurst Athletics embodied the joy of staying active while keeping it lighthearted.

The Story

The Wurst Athletics was born unexpectedly during my travels through Europe in the fall of 2024. While in Vienna, I was helping a friend brainstorm ideas for a women’s run club in Barcelona—everything from the name and slogan to branding, colors, and even merch. Since food is such a universal connector, I suggested a few names inspired by it, but nothing clicked right away.

Later, we decided to take a walk around Vienna, and she introduced me to one of the best Käsekrainer stands in the city. While standing in line, the word Wurst on the menu caught my eye, and suddenly, inspiration hit. I suggested The Wurst Athletics for her run club, but she wasn’t sold. So I jokingly said, “Fine, I’ll create my own athletics community,” and that’s exactly what I did.

What started as a playful idea turned into a creative, community-driven space that celebrated fitness, fun, and connection. The Wurst Athletics reminded us all that movement doesn’t have to be so serious—it can be joyful, lighthearted, and even inspired by a great sausage stand.

The Brand

The Wurst Athletics was a fitness brand like no other—fun, playful, and unapologetically unique. Built around the idea that movement should bring as much joy as it does sweat, the community embraced laughter, creativity, and connection. At its heart was Würstel the Wiener, the charming mascot who embodied the lighthearted spirit of the brand.

The branding brought a whole new flavor to fitness. Inspired by the beloved condiments ketchup and mustard, the vibrant red-and-yellow colorway made everything feel bold, fresh, and unmistakably fun. Workout posts were designed like hot dog stand menus, blending humor and creativity with the energy of an athletic club.
